Combining fun with learning, Nutty Scientists’ Camps are an innovative form of “edutainment” (entertainment + education). Each workshop contains an educational theme that keeps children engaged all day, every day.
January 20 – Fun with Physics workshop
From a falling apple to a flying space shuttle, Physics is all around us. Learn fascinating concepts of Physics through fun experiments and relate them to everyday life. Workshops include:
- Why do ships float but rocks sink? How do fish rise and sink in the water? Is it the weight of the item or the material? Understand the concept of sinking, floating and buoyancy and see it in action by making your very own cartesian diver.
- Ever wonder how insect can walk along the water? Learn all about Surface Tension and how to break it or not break it with fun science experiments that look like magic.
- Understand physical properties of matter such as mass, density, volume, and buoyancy. Compare different densities of objects in terms of mass and volume, and make your own density column and take it home.
January 21 – Forensic Science workshop
Be a professional forensic scientist for a day and get hands-on at the crime scene
- Look for clues and evidence and learn observing like a Forensic Scientist
- Make your own fingerprint and and how each one is unique and can be used as an accurate identifier
- Isolate and take home DNA and analyse DNA strands
- Detect chemicals using Food chemistry
Nutty Scientists is a COVIDsafe business and our workshops will run in compliance with the NSW Health COVID19 guidelines at the time of the event.
