Nutty Scientists is coming to Rouse Hill this April school holidays!

Combing fun with learning, Nutty Scientists® Sydney’s interactive, hands-on science workshops contain an educational theme that keeps children engaged all day, every day.

The April school holiday program at Rouse will feature topics such as optical illusions, the human body, simple machines and lots more. Join us for two or three workshops or join us for the day!

Thursday, 23rd April 2020

Workshop 1 (9:30 am – 10:30 am) — The Human Body 

Did you know that just a drop of blood contains about 10,000 white blood cells and 250,000 platelets? and your heart is about the size of your fist? The average adult heart beats about 72 times a minute, 100,000 times a day and 3,600 times a year. During a person’s lifetime, their heart could beat more than 3.5 billion, yes 3.5 billion, times! Join our Professors in our ‘Human Body” Workshop to learn and explore about our heart, lungs, muscles and more!

Workshop 2 (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) — Optical Illusions

Optical illusions are images that trick us into thinking we are seeing things we really aren’t. Learn about how optical illusions work and create your own little optical illusion with the help of our Nutty Professors.

Workshop 3 (1:30 pm – 2:30 pm) — Pump Me Up

Simple machines are all around us! Find your inner engineer and learn basics and fun scientific facts about simple machines such as levers, wheels, pulleys and planes. Understand how these machines work and build your very own simple machine.

COST

• $45 for 2 workshops, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm or 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
• $65 for 3 workshops, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
• $85 for a full day, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kids will get to participate in workshop 1, 2 and 3. In addition, we will have board games, science toys and gadgets, and art activities before and after the workshops.

Please pack a nut-free lunch, morning tea, afternoon tea, hat, sunscreen and bottle of water. There will be supervised outside play during breaks. If your child has any allergies, please let us know in advance.

For workshops only, please arrive 15 minutes before the start time.

These workshops are recommended for children aged between 4 to 11 years old. As our workshops are hands-on and interactive, we limit the registrations to 20 children per workshop. The workshops are run/managed by 2-3 professors to ensure each child receives the attention they need. Our school holiday workshops book out very fast; to ensure you secure a spot, you will need to book online as soon as you can. If fully-booked, we can add you to the waitlist but there is no guarantee that your child/children will be enrolled in the workshop. If the holiday programs do not reach minimum enrollment threshold (8 children) it will not go ahead and you will be refunded  in full.
