Archeology is one of the most exciting scientific fields because archaeologists are responsible for reconstructing the history of ancient civilizations<\/strong> to help us understand important events in the history of humanity.<\/p>\n

One of the most important and amazing events of archaeology was 96 years ago when the tomb of Tutankhamun<\/strong>, often called King Tut, was discovered with many artifacts and objects inside. If we go back to Ancient Egypt, we can understand why many objects were found in the tombs of the pharaohs.<\/p>\n

The ancient Egyptians believed in life after death.<\/strong> For this reason, they were buried with their belongings and with things they might need in the afterlife.<\/p>\n

But did you know that\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>King Tut:<\/strong><\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. He was the most famous pharaoh of Ancient Egypt<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. He is known as the \u201cChild Pharaoh\u201d<\/strong> because of his early ascension to the throne at 12 years old, and then his untimely death at age 20<\/li>\n
  3. As well as other tombs<\/strong> of Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, King Tut\u2019s is a spectacular pyramid<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Because he died at such an early age, his grave was very small<\/strong>. So small, in fact, that it took centuries to find. Specifically, it took 3,245 years.<\/li>\n
  5. His tomb was discovered in Luxor (Egypt)<\/strong> in 1922 by the archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter<\/li>\n
  6. Although credit for the discovery went to Carter, it was really Hussein, a 10-year-old boy<\/strong> who brought water to the workers at the excavation site in the Valley of the Kings, who ran into a step in the sand, thus discovering the tomb.<\/li>\n
  7. His tomb was considered one of the few that had remained practically intact<\/strong> before the activity of grave robbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And\u2026 what exactly do archaeologists do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. They are professionals of anthropology<\/strong> specialized in the history of the human being as known through remains, such as bones, tissues, ceramics, etc.<\/li>\n
    2. They can specialize in a geographical area<\/strong>, a historical period or some type of object<\/li>\n
    3. Their most important functions are the excavation<\/strong>, identification<\/strong>, registration and historical conservation<\/strong> of remains<\/li>\n
    4. Another part of their work involves laboratory analysis<\/strong>, research and heritage management, among others<\/li>\n
    5. They work hand in hand with surveyors<\/strong> and excavation specialists<\/li>\n
    6. They use geophysical techniques<\/strong> or aerial photographs in order to identify archaeological sites<\/li>\n
    7. They advise governments<\/strong> on archaeological site conservation issues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
