Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions will be governed by and are construed in accordance with New Zealand Law, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of New Zealand. These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice, at our sole discretion. We will notify customers of amendments to these terms and conditions by posting them to our website.
Registration
Once you have made the decision to engage with Nutty Scientists – through a booking and/or attendance of a class, these terms and conditions are deemed as read, understood and agreed upon.
We ask, and you agree to provide truthful, accurate and current information about yourself and your child during the enrolment process. This includes but is not limited to allergies, behavioural or social concerns, medication, any factor that could impact the experience of an enrolment in Nutty Scientists.
If you do not disclose need to know information which disrupts the running of a class and your child needs to be removed, there will be no refund or transfers of credit provided.
Nutty Scientists is a supportive and inclusive environment and we endeavour to make our courses enjoyable and educational for all so this decision will not be made lightly, and will be better informed & navigated thanks to your detailed student notes.
All Nutty Scientists fees are due in advance. Currently we only accept payment by creditcard via our booking system .
Refunds
Paid fees for bookings are non-refundable and are forfeited should a student voluntarily discontinue enrolment part way through a course, be unable to attend due to general sickness or other commitments, or if a child is removed from a class by a Nutty Scientists team member due to being disruptive.
For holiday programmes we will refund you 80% of your payment if you cancel two weeks before the start of the next school holidays (see start date on our website), 50% if you provide 13 – 7 days notice, and a refund will not be provided if you give less than 7 days notice. Again we may offer credits, but this is at our own discretion.
For our Afterschool programmes, no refunds nor credits are available, including for sickness.
We allocate staff on a 2 weekly basis, and purchase equipment and materials 4-8 weeks ahead, so we are unable to be flexible with our refund policy, as we would have accounted for your child’s attendance.
Getting to and From Venue
Parents or guardians of students under the age of 16 must arrange transport facilities for students. It shall be the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure the student has arrived safely to our classes. We are not a childcare provider, we are an activity provider.
At no time will Nutty Scientists be responsible for the student before arriving or after leaving their scheduled class. This includes after school classes – we do not collect students from classrooms & we do not provide care between the end of school & Nutty Scientists beginning. We recommend you walk your child across to our class, but if you are happy for them to wait outside independently while our tutors arrive & set up that is a decision you can make at your discretion.
For school holiday programmes – if you arrive more than 10 minutes before your scheduled session start time, or your child is not picked up within 10 minutes of your scheduled pick up time we will need to add on care to cover rent charges & tutor wages.
Changes to Courses and Cancellation
Nutty Scientists reserves the right to cancel or amend courses, change course dates and substitute educators at any time. In the event of a course cancellation, transfer of a lesson or a refund will be provided.
However, Nutty Scientists will not be liable for any losses including, but not limited to, travel and accommodation expenses arising as a consequence of any modification of courses.
Use of Equipment & Damages
Students are to handle all equipment at Nutty Scientists with care and respect, and are liable for any damage they cause. Nutty Scientists will notify parents in the event of damage being caused and payment/replacement will be expected and required upon agreement to these terms and conditions. Contact around damages may be delayed as we will always set aside time to attempt to fix damages in house before determining whether we need to seek outside repairs, and also compensation from the student at fault.
Students are at all times liable for any damage caused to Nutty Scientists’s premises and property, or the premise and property being used by Nutty Scientists at the time e.g. P.E. gear, or a school hall.
For students under age 16 liability is transferred to the parent / guardian of the student.
Nutty Scientists and its employees accept no responsibility for any loss of or damage to personal belongings of students, or for any personal injury to or death of a student occurring at any of our locations, whether by fire, theft, evacuation or by any force majeure event. Nor is Nutty Scientists or, its employees liable for damages for cessation of operation and resulting cancellation of courses due to an event outside our control.
Personal Information & Photography
Nutty Scientists endeavours to keep any personal information provided by the applicant confidential. Personal data will not be given or shared with third parties without permission. Personal information will only be used for educational, promotional or marketing purposes by Nutty Scientists unless the applicant does not wish to receive such information.
Nutty Scientists reserves the right and retains copyright to all promotional photographs, which may be taken of students on its premises. Nutty Scientists may use these photos in promotional material or newsletters/summaries to all attendees’ parents. If you do not wish for this to happen, please email us (refer contact details page) and let us know. No personal details of students will be passed to third parties, except the appropriate authorities, without prior consent.
